Instructors for 2026 AHIO Conference

Scott Gibbs (Criterium-Carlysle/Gibbs Engineers, Alabama’s leading consulting engineering firms, is committed to helping building owners, real estate investors, contractors and homeowner associations understand the buildings they own, build, manage, or purchase. We know buildings of all types, from major hospitality, institutional and transportation facilities to high rise multi-family to townhouses to single family homes)


Dr. Terry J. Holder, Ph.D. - has been a licensed residential home builder since 1998 and taught building science to high school students for over 25 years. Terry is a licensed home inspector in the state of Alabama, has a B.S., Masters and a Doctorate from Auburn University and a Ed Specialist Degree from the University of Montevallo. 

Kelly Adams-Phillips – Huber Engineered Woods 

Kelly will celebrate “40” in the building industry in January of 2026. She has been with Huber Engineered Woods for six years.  She is the Regional Sales Manager for parts of Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle.  

Candace Wheat - Technical Outreach Specialist, Smart Home America

Fortified Building

Candace provides community stakeholders with technical education about resilient

construction methods, builds and maintains relationships with partner organizations

and building professionals to contribute to the successful delivery of Smart Home

America’s mission and goals. She has successfully led and motivated cross-functional teams, conducted impactful training sessions, and provided ongoing coaching and support to enhance team performance. 

 

Mike Shofner - Aqua-Guard Waterproofing 

Mike is President of Aqua-Guard Waterproofing and encapsulation systems and dehumidifiers in homes. 

 

Dave Jenkins – Total Home Inspection 

Dave has been a licensed home inspector since 2006 and currently serves on the State Advisory Committee for Home Inspectors. Dave believes that being fully immersed in his profession is the only way to continually improve.
