Instructors for 2026 AHIO Conference

 

Dr. Terry J. Holder, Ph.D. - has been a licensed residential home builder since 1998. I also taught building science to high school students for over 25 years. I passed the National Home Inspectors Exam and the ASHI standards of practice Exam and I am licensed as a home inspector in the state of Alabama. I have a B.S., Masters and a Doctorate from Auburn University and a Ed Specialist Degree from the University of Montevallo. I recently retired from education. 

Kelly Adams-Phillips – Huber Engineered Woods 

Kelly will celebrate “40” in the building industry in January of 2026.  She has traveled the Eastern section of the United States while representing several different product lines.  She has been in her present role with Huber Engineered Woods for six years.  She is the Regional Sales Manager for parts of Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle.  In her spare time Kelly enjoys participating in Triathlons and spending time with her nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

Candace Wheat - Technical Outreach Specialist, Smart Home America

Fortified Building

Candace provides community stakeholders with technical education about resilient

construction methods. She builds and maintains relationships with partner organizations

and building professionals to contribute to the successful delivery of Smart Home

America’s mission and goals. Candace completed the FORTIFIED evaluator training

and has a strong education and customer service background. She previously taught

high school English and oral communication, has successfully led and motivated

cross-functional teams, conducted impactful training sessions, and provided ongoing

coaching and support to enhance team performance. Candace is from coastal

Mississippi and lives in Mobile, Alabama. She enjoys outdoor adventures with her

Goldendoodle Punkin in her downtime.

Dave Jenkins – Total Home Inspection 

Dave has been a licensed home inspector since 2006 and currently serves on the State Advisory Committee for Home Inspectors. Dave believes that being fully immersed in his profession is the only way to continually improve.
